The Allstars are our Stars

Published on June 06, 2018

On Friday 1st of June, the staff from the University of Stirling held their annual charity rounders tournament. This year, the staff decided to donate the proceeds to Start Up Stirling and we couldn’t be happier. Due to the unpredictable weather, it was held in the university gym hall and it was clear that the competitiveness between staff departments was intense. Out of the 8 teams competing only one could be victorious. After a very close fought match, including a sudden death decider, the Gannochy Allstars came out on top. All the members of the Allstars assured us that “they weren’t competitive or anything” and it was “only for the fun”. However, after witnessing their warm-ups and practising between games, we think they were more competitive than they were letting on! Massive thank you to everyone that took part and organised the event. All the money that we raised is going towards items for our Starter Packs which are really crucial! Here are some of the pictures from the event taken by our summer intern, Eilidh who was invited along to spectate.

Its a well known fact that here at Start Up Stirling, we don’t do fundraising events in small measures. That’s right, we are wanting to collect 1,000 kilos of money, all going towards our most needed items. Get involved with bake sales, raffles or something wacky to raise some money so we can raise a tonne of money and make a tonne of difference in Stirling.

Play it Forward

Published on April 12, 2018

Last year, Stirling was granted its very own Monopoly board. You can visit Andy Murray’s gold post box, enjoy the scenery at Stirling Castle and finish off with a quiet night in at the Birds and Bee’s. Start Up Stirling are humbled and honoured to have been voted onto a Community Chest square on the board. Due to Stirling having such a vast amount of charities that all deserve recognition, we decided to start a new campaign, moulding from the well known proverb, “Pay It Forward”. Our campaign -”Play It Forward”- involves each member of our office staff nominating a Stirlingshire charity of their choice and donating a board to that charity. The board could be used for clients of the charity or to sell on as part of a fundraising raffle or tombola. It was totally up to the charity how to best use the board and we are so happy to have created this campaign.
