Start Up Santa is back! After a quick rest over Spring, Santa’s traded snow for sunshine and he’s here to remind everyone that hunger and hardship exists throughout the year, not just in the Winter months. Sometimes the Summer holidays can be the hardest time of the year, as children don’t have school support and meals. Santa says that even the smallest donation makes a big difference to the children and young people that we support at Start Up Stirling!
Food donations for our Crisis Food Service
We really need your help to maintain the level of food that we need to support everyone that is referred to us, as currently the need for our Crisis Food Service is outstripping the donations we are receiving. If you are able to leave a food donation at any of our stations throughout the area, it would be amazing. Each and every can and packet makes a difference. Here are the items that Santa is looking for on his Summer Shopping List.
We can provide you with a donation station and shopping lists for your workplace or community group during the Summer campaign. If you would like to have your own food donation or fundraising event, or would like to have a permanent food donation station, we would love to hear from you. Please ring the office on (01786) 561027 for more details.
Food donation days
● Friday 13th June - Morrison’s Superstore, Munro Road, Stirling FK7 7SR. 12pm - 4pm.
● Tuesday 17th June - Waitrose, Burghmuir Retail Park, Stirling FK7 7GX. 11am - 2pm.
There will be more information on our social media about these food donation days. Please come along and support us if you can.
Supermarket online order donations
When you are ordering your weekly shop, why not make a food donation order for Start Up Stirling too? We can accept supermarket food deliveries, including fresh and frozen food, to our warehouse at 16B Whitehouse Road, FK7 7SP, as long as it arrives between Tuesday - Thursday, 9am until 2pm, or Friday, 9am until 12.30pm.
School uniform and school bag support
Making sure that children and young people go back to school with new uniforms and bags is important. Everyone deserves to start the new school term with the self-worth and confidence that these things bring.
This year, we are appealing for vouchers from the following places to purchase school uniforms, underwear, socks, shoes, PE kits and school bags. Vouchers help us to give the families of children and young people the opportunity to choose the uniforms, school bags and stationery they like, giving them dignity and freedom of choice.
Gift vouchers from the following places would be gratefully received:
Water bottle and lunch box donations
We would love to receive donations of water bottles of different sizes and lunch boxes, either at our warehouse, or at our donation stations throughout the area.
Corporate matched funding
If you are holding an event to support our Summer campaign this year, check with your employer whether they support match funding for charity fundraising events. This makes a big difference to the help that we can give to the people who need our support 52 weeks of the year. Please let us know about any of your fundraising events, so we can promote them on social media.
Make a financial gift
Financial donations help to support all of our services. Whether it is buying food for the Crisis Food Service, running the Community Hubs, putting fuel into our vans for rural deliveries or picking up donations from supermarkets, every donation helps. It’s easy to make a donation via our website, and if you are eligible for Gift Aid, it increases your gift to us by 25%.
