Thistle’s Hidden Street Tour with Dr Murray Cook - 12th and 19th June 2024
One of the most unique experiences that will be on offer this Summer is the opportunity for the first time in over 40 years for a select few to have a guided tour of Dirt Raw, the mediaeval street which is hidden below the Stirling Thistles shopping centre.
Dirt Raw used to lie outside the Royal Burgh and was sealed in the 1970's as the Thistles was built over it. Dirt Raw is part of Stirling’s City Walls, which are some of the best preserved mediaeval walls in Scotland. The walls were built during the Rough Wooing to deter the English from forcing the infant Mary Queen of Scots into marrying Henry VIIIth's heir. The walk will also feature access to the hidden section of the Thieves' Pot.
There are only 20 tickets from each tour, on Wednesday 12th and 19th June, so booking via ticketsource is essential https://www.ticketsource.co.uk... The ticket cost is £20 per person, with all proceeds going to support Start Up Stirling’s services.
Please note that this tour is not suitable for people who dislike tight, enclosed spaces. Appropriate footwear is required, as some areas are uneven.
Many thanks to Thistle’s Stirling for allowing this event to take place.
