First Minister & Children and Young People's Commissioner Visit

Published on January 18, 2018

Start Up Stirling welcomed First Minister Nicola Sturgeon and the Children and Young People's Commissioner for Scotland Bruce Adamson on 17 January 2018. They met with volunteers, staff and Janet from Stirling CAB and left with a real understanding of the work we are doing throughout Stirlingshire and some of the significant challenges we face on a weekly basis. Over Christmas 2017, we supported 371 people of which 39.4% were children.

"Things have got to change for children in Scotland" was one of the things the Children and Young People's Commissioner Bruce Adamson said during the visit and we couldn't agree more. It breaks our hearts to see how many families are in need of the support we provide every week. Around 100 children every week receive food we provide.

Our support service in Stirling and Callander is funded by the Scottish Government’s ‘Fair Food Transformation Fund’.
